For our interview we plan on documenting the street performers who perform nightly in downtown Wilmington. Furthermore we are going to silhouette these performances with a visual documentation of the aesthetic transformation of the city streets between day and night. It will be a film largely in a sensual basis, with a focus on the sounds and images of the Wilmington streets. It will also focus on the bond between performer and the street how this affects the synthesis of the music. The expert interview will be with one of the performers and some possible questions we can ask are thus:
What is music to you? What is your relationship with the streets you are playing on? What is the muse to your art? Who do you play for, the passerby, or something/someone else? Do you ever collaborate with anyone? Are you from the area? What genre do you focus on? What brings you out each night to perform? What was the greatest night you have had while performing?
These are the questions for the expert interview. When it comes to the voice of the public interviews we will ask three very general questions such as, and not limited to:
What do these performers mean to you ? Would the streets of downtown Wilmington be the same without these musicians? What is music to you ?
The documentary will focus on sound and sight and the dialogue will be a minor aspect of the feature. We plan in filming three times, on night shoot, one day shoot (to capture the daytime of the area) and one shot of dusk. For now that's the brunt of the project.
